In a
nutshell
We were honoured with the mammoth task of providing all still assets for the VW online configurator. Using real-time gaming technology as a render engine made this process faster and more efficient. A bi-product of this technology, was a series the fully interactive 3D models. Seeing an opportinity to maximise ROI, we set to work on designing a flagship configurator experience that was capable of showcasing the the range in all it's glory.
Adding
personality
We designed a dynamic selection interface for the VW range. By placing 360° assets in front of beautiful video backgrounds that hinted at capabilities, we were able to add some excitement and character to a more functional stage. This mechanism not only made the selection process more engaging, it also helped alleviate load times as the light menu could be explored freely without having to enter a real-time engine scene.


Exploration
in motion
Once a model is selected the experience springs to life. We wanted to create more than just a configurator. Alongside a full suite of visualisation options, we also grouped interactive features and product stories into categories, allowing users to explore the car freely via an array of modes and contextual hotspots. Users could even watch their vehicle drive as they made changes and explored stories.
